Lastnight my husband and I dined at the Tokyo Grill.Im still licking my lips!I had the kobe beef and chewing was an option. It was like butter melting in my mouth. Our Chef was amusing and grilled our food to perfection. The sushi was delectable. This was my first time having sushi. The manager Chad was very convincing and dead on with the Phili Rolls! The service was great and Chad was very personable! This is quite possible my husband and my new favorite place to eat!

Ive been to the Tokio Grill several times and must say,I LOVE IT! The food has always been fantastic..Ive had a couple of servers whom leave much to be desired. And then you have those such as Jeffrey who go above and beyond. My family has celebrated there on 2 occasions. We were not dissapointed! Im glad to see Victoria finally having some variety.Aspecial thanks goes out to the manager,Chad. He always ensures our visit leaves us coming back for more!! KUDOS!

Average food. Dirty tables and too many flies. Terrible, uncaring staff. A little expensive. Nice building...I wonder what will be in it in a year? What is it about Victoria?

I have eaten here a few times. Each time the food was great (both hibachi and sushi). But the service is the worst!! Please Owners & managers, TRAIN YOUR STAFF!!! I would really hate to see Victoria loose this place. But so far it is going down hill.

We went there for a birthday celebration for my sister. We had a party of nine and sat in the hibachi grill (back room). We called head and made a reservation so we did not have to wait. There was a long line! Our waiter was Marcos and he was great. He was very personable and humorous. Before he got there we had another waiter take drink orders and check on us. The food was so wonderful. Between all of us we had sushi, california rolls, wine, hibachi entrees, and fried rice. We had a blast! A little expensive.

The sushi was not to shabby, but the service, you might as well be your own waiter. They have no clue how to wait tables in there, let alone knowledge of the menu. We ordered sake, and they ignored it because they didnt know what it was. Finally after several times asking for it, and waitresses conferring they checked the computer and discovered they had to order it at the bar! Every item we ordered seemed to be an issue. People were being seated and then totally ignored. One couple just left after waiting 20 minutes to get their orders taken. Another couple next to us came right after us, and by the time we were leaving they still hadnt recieved their food! The staff were pretty idly standing by, while the apparent manager was running around like a chicken with his head cut off. Please, owners and/or managers, if you are reading this, educate your staff on the menu and on how to wait tables. This could be such a huge success with the sushi, but from the comments I've read, its pretty unanimous that the service is non-existant. If you want to get Victoria hooked on sushi, make it an all around good experience. Also, maybe think about adding a little kids menu, some udon noodles or a little chicken and rice plate ya know? There were tons of families in there.... We are having a birthday party in a few days there and I hope the service has improved!

We dined at Tokyo Grill and Sushi Lounge last evening. We were pleasantly suprised by the food presentation until I looked down at my plate and saw a fly in the middle of my sushi roll! We called a manager over and he said, "I don't know what to say," and did not ease the situation. He acted as though the fly was placed there. He tried to compensate us and offered us an additional two plates of the dish that had just had the fly in it. We didn't really want that dish again let alone two! Then he answered a cell phone call in the middle of our conversation and left the table! I was disappointed in the lack of professionalism.

We were soooo disappointed!!! We were not greeted at the door, although there were 4 staff at the hostess station. Finally seated... finally we were waited on. the server took our order... never saw him again. My husband went to the sushi chef to see if the order sitting there might be our order.. it was. Only two tables in the restaurant!!! The place was out of control, staff on cell phones, eating , and just visiting with each other. When an apparent looking manager came in to the building, we asked if we could have some assistance. He apologized for the situation, but obviously the staff were out of control. It is an ashame, because it started out as a great place, and already failing. I forgot to mention how bad the flies were... we changed tables.

We took my daughter to the Tokyo Grill for her Birthday. It was a suprising and pleasant dining experience, the food was good. We ate with chopsticks for the first time. We watched as the skilled cook prepared many dishes right before our eyes. The food was good, the atmosphere was great. It was not just a meal it was an evening out with entertainment all in one place..... And it was right here in Victoria.

What I don't understand is why some people are complaining about the steaks they ordered from a "JAPANESE" restaurant. If you want a steak go next door to Texas Roadhouse, not to an Asian sushi lounge. What do you expect, of course it's going to be rough. Besides that, I've been to Tokyo Grill a couple of times myself and was very well pleased with the service and the sushi. Although I would have to say that some of the hosts and bartenders seem like they are there to socialize and talk about the parties they had the night before, but the asian americans who work there were extremely nice and very helpful. Due to the fact that I love sushi and it's the only sushi place in town I will definitely be returning.

I agree with dragonfly - my steak was a little tough. i ordered the hibachi ribeye and it was a little bit tough. my fiance ordered the hibachi kobe steak and it was a little tough as well. i know the chef had to turn down the grill because the girl that turned it on had put it too high. when he served our meat, it was medium (just the way we asked for it) but then it got tougher. i think that's because the grill was extremely hot and meat always continues to cook even after it's off the heat. maybe i will ask for it to be taken off sooner next time. other than the tough steak, our meal was good. it was very pricey but we got soup, salad, shrimp appetizers, and chicken fried rice with our entree. the salad had some water on the bottom of the bowl, though. the hibachi room is expensive and wouldn't be somewhere to eat ALL the time. it's more of going on a date type thing. the meals are probably gonna cost you 20 or more dollars! i probably won't eat in the hibachi room anymore since i'm more of a sushi lover! the sushi rolls are about 10 or more dollars, too. my fiance had gotten the benzo box last time and they forgot his california sushi roll and his soup. they also brought my oyster tempura roll out about 15 minutes AFTER my family got their meals. the waiter kept apologizing and saying that he didn't know why the chef hadn't prepared it yet. it took the waiter 3 or 4 times telling the chef before my food was brought to me. my mom and fiance also didn't get their california roll until we were about to pay. i try not to fault the restaurant too much since it was the 2nd day they were open. overall, it's a nice restaurant but pricey! i would suggest getting the lunch specials which only run monday-friday. during the weekends, there are NO lunch specials! the sushi is pretty good! i would suggest that if you do order steak in the hibachi room, make sure to take it off sooner because it will get tough! i would go eat again but will stick to sushi!

I have eaten a LOT of Japanese food in my life and I feel that I am fairly well versed on how wonderful (and terrible) it can be.

Recently several members of my family and I dined at Tokyo Grill and I must say...we were heartily dissatisfied with the meal we received.

Case in point...I ordered a steak...medium rare...received...a VERY tough, fat and gristle filled piece of what could loosely be termed meat that was so over cooked that another member of our party gave me some of her meat so that I would have something to eat (after tasting mine she felt sorry for me). When it came time to dole out the veggies...I got a plate full of onions with 1 piece of zucchini and no carrots or broccoli...thankfully yet again another member of our party took pity on me and gave me some of hers...

The soup was good but the salad had a minimum of half a cup of water in the bottom so my lettuce (and trust me folks that is all you get...not a carrot or tomato in sight) was floating...

I will say this we did order several pieces of sushi prior to dining and they were VERY GOOD so I would definitely recommend sticking to sushi when dining here...or praying REALLY HARD that you get a chef that knows how to cook and isn't just "good with knives and making an onion volcano."

One more thing...the profile indicates that the prices are "$10 to $15"...I don't know who came up with that but...a typical dinner for 2 will likely run you a minimum of $50...unless you order appetizers and drinks...then forget about it...

Eat sushi...only order hibachi at lunch (so that if it is terrible you didn't just shell out $20 for inedible food) and show up with a fat wallet...OH!! I have it on good authority that the Hibachi Tuna Steak is to die for (wish I had ordered that...but hindsight and all that)...
